Now this is a question mainly for those that support CCP and believe that they can succeed.
What if at fan fest there is no PVE, no open world, no player market, no boarding titans, and many other things that are suppose to make this game unique? Say none of this came many months later after fan fest, but instead a few modes replacing the current ones but still PVP , new vehicles, and the rest of the other races MCC's.
Would you be willing to wait until fan fest of 2015 not knowing for sure what would be revealed there? But you know that PVE is close as it ever has been or the player market at least?

So you only care about new suits/ new ways to play the same lobby shooter we're all stuck in?

No. There's a lot of great games coming out soon. CCP needs to recapture my imagination. Admittedly Dark Souls II will steal me away from Dust until CCP gets Amarr HAV in game. Avrik the Crow will exist again.
I'm looking forward to destiny although I don't know how much of an FPS-MMO it'll be a good break from dust. I may come back but by the time I'm done with destiny The division may occupy me also.

No. There's a lot of great games coming out soon. CCP needs to recapture my imagination. Agreed. In September, another sci-fi FPS RPG-style game that starts with a D comes out and its developers eat, sleep and poop their game, tweaking it for release and a very long life. Dust is fun for what it is right now, which sadly is a place holder until this mystery game comes out. I love Logi-ing, but if there isn't going to be any additional content, I'm going to have to go get my FPS/healer fix somewheres else. And heck, I won't even delete/biomass. If the game does end up getting better in a year or so after I leave, I should have a nice fat chunk of SP to mess around with.
Strange I also am looking forward to a certain game being released in September that also starts with a D. I also won't be deleting my character just in case this game lives and succeeds on after I get bored of Destiny if I do.

I want real ideas that lead to real results, not in the very end of the year we scramble to add something that we can mention in our next fanfest vid.
The last fan fest was just discussions about what's possible and what CCP should do. There's no problem discussing what should be done but there's a problem with such a failed release. The bit of game play they showed of uprising got us all excited, and it seemed like the game was moving forward but since then the game has barely moved forward.

I'm not sure that PvE in dust will be any different. a player market would be nice but full eve integration(a market merge) will take years.
hehe an open world I can see as being very questionable but maybe not impossible.

Pve might come before 2015. Open world definitely won't. No boarding titans any time soon. The next year of this game will be spent on fixing what is broken, and releasing what should already have been in when this game went to a "released" state. If you think there is going to be some massive expansion of the game over the next 18 months, you are in for some heart break. I stopped hoping for CCP to move this game forward at anything resembling a respectable pace. The only thing I expect from CCP is lies and disappointment. It will take a solid year of not shitting the bed before I put any faith in CCP to do anything right, let alone make this into a game that I would actually encourage people to play it.
fk man they need something great to keep hope up for this game, I just wouldn't be able to stand nearly the same s*** for another year. Destiny will keep me occupied for awhile and then The Division, It might seem odd but sometimes after I log in and I see my character still stuck in his quarters it reminds me of why I took a two month break and why I'm playing less and less and I log off right away after being reminded that.

Completely agree, sure I may have expected more than what we would get in each update if CCP had a bigger or better team working on this game but honestly I just don't want this game to die. I would like it to succeed but right now chances of success are not looking good.
I hope CCP Rouge isn't trying to drag us on a bumpy road to disappointment.

One of the biggest allures for me was that it was a work in progress. All other game I've played have gone gold and come on a disc or DD. With this game, I've been able to play it through 5 different named iterations and 7 point updates under the Uprising title. I've seen it changes from a rough ass E3 build to 1.7 and just being part of and involved with a game that holds such promise is fantastic. I feel that the game is with me on my way through life and as it grows and develops so do I. I don't mind the ups and downs of development because the things I'm developing in my own life (not a game haha) also has ups and downs. I know from my own experience that priorities change and factors arise that can boost or stunt progress. You won't ever see me dooming and glooming as negativity isn't in my nature. I have Optimism Proficiency V with a couple of complex mods fitted. I just roll with the punches, ride and ebb and flow of circumstance and change and walk steadily and purposefully to my goal and I see CCP doing the same I'm not enslaved to this game though, while I have invested considerable time and money into the game, I can and will walk away from it in an instant when it no longer serves as a positive and fun part of my life.

Well naturally I would prefer 1.8 type updates! I haven't been super impressed with these tiny updates and I have concerns about the game's marketing and aspects of its development but I have confidence in the product and being a whiney ***** isn't in my genes.

This game needs to keep in mind that there are other better shooters out there that they are competing with. It's not a matter of "what ifs" it's a matter of simple economy and supply and demand. Players will soon realize that other games will give them what they want. They will leave and this game will pack up and close. It's only a matter of time. In all honesty, I hope it doesn't happen, but my god... at this rate it's inevitable.
And it really seems like CCP is focusing on that FPS part for some reason. It's not going to work unless we see more of that MMO side and link to EVE. With Destiny and The Division which I only see as competition for Dust 514.

I would love to be able to run into a forest, where a tank couldn't, or would be hard-pressed to follow into.
Can you imagine how much more diverse a simple patch of trees could make this game? But no. Instead, lets just keep putting out imbalanced weapons and vehicles.
Balance is something this game has always struggled with. and I don't see that struggle ending any time soon. Honestly, If we don't get a SOLID timeline at fanfest, I'm going to be severely disappointed, and possibly give this game another lengthy break. I grow weary of this being a game with "potential". There is SO much potential, but it seems like this game is running on a skeleton crew. I'd be interested to know just how many people are actually on the devoted DUST team. Especially artists.
Granted, having more people doesn't necessarily make things faster, but it would certainly be faster if they could have someone to work on in-game art, another someone to code the stats, and someone else to get the coffee, instead of one guy/girl doing all three.
1.Ya right now all the maps are industrial areas or research facilities
2. And potential is what this game mostly has, but ya you can still have fun with a squad. But it's potential (link to EVE) is suppose to be it's strength but it's the weakest part of the game.
3. Sure bigger isn't always better, and ummmm CCP needs more people for the team working on Dust(The Shanghai team) CCP Jobs

You're not stupid or a fool to believe that this game has a chance, it's just that most of us that have been here since closed beta really don't see CCP having a chance much in the future ever since uprising.

But to the actual substance of the OP post, yeah I will stick with Dust, but how much I am actually playing it always varies. I haven't capped out since the 5x SP event. When destiny launches I can see a month or 2 where pretty much all I'm doing is logging in to get login SP and maybe catching up with corp mates.
As it stands right now, Dust is a tough game to play constantly, but its a pretty easy game to put down and pick up while still accruing passive SP.
Yup right now I don't give a second thought to logging off and if fan fest is a failure then Destiny is gonna be what I'll be looking forward to. Then once it's here I don't think I'll give a second thought if I have to choose between Destiny and Dust (destiny being the choice made each time).

Some new grass ? >.> This shows the passion in DUST right now.... If you where an art and game designer.. and you had 10 thousand planets and potentially all kinds of environments you could make... Would you just go outside take a picture of a mountain and try and copy that with some rocks and hills and call it an "Alien" planet? The fact that we don't have a singular foreign entitiy use of imagination on these distant planets no giant Mushrooms... No weird Plants.... The entire alien feel DUST relies on is a bunch of cloudy DUST rushing by your screen.. Even the Attempt at a Snow map... CCP is from Iceland.. Where are the giant clear blue glaciers? chuncks of ice? Frozen lake? Snow effects? Would of been 1000x better then a volcano? The passion in creating alien worlds for most Artists into Sci-FI is something they do as a hobby... CCP can't get people to do it as their main job.
Ya true maybe it's something with the game engine and the programming.... I'm thinking this because CCP is looking for programmers for the shanghai team which is the team that works on dust 514.

As far as FanFest goes,I just expect more empty promises, which will get them nowhere this time. There's always going to be those people that keep hanging on to this vaporware because of their optimism, but I'm fresh out and I'm just not buying the rotten bill of goods that CCP is selling anymore.
I guess in the long run,the only thing that will keep me really interested in Dust over the next year is MASSIVE improvements, both technical, like a higher framerate and less lag,and content like new maps, gear, game modes, and a player market.since none of those things are coming anytime soon, this game is way on the back burner for me.
Also, something that most people overlook about the failure both current and future,is how is CCP going to get more gamers interested and playing this game? This is supposed to be an MMO,but that's a misnomer as it's just an MO.There's absolutely nothing massive about this game, and that alone will be the ultimate failure of Dust, and the reason why most people will continue to feel that as a whole, the game is irrelevant.
I think the only real thing that make this different that any other shooter right now is that it has a passive SP gain. That alone keeps people at least interested and optimistic about the growth of their character. If Destiny or The Division wise up and add a passive XP gain system in their game, this game will be dead.
I couldn't stick with the game anymore after 1.5 , sure the squad finder was neat but it was still the same lobby shooter. Came back after 1.7's release and not a surprise that it's still the same lobby shooter. It was good to play with people that I didn't talk to since I took that break.
But the game was still the same, I like the new rifles but that's it really. As of right now it's just an FPS, no MMO side to it at all. I don't see how people use the SP as an excuse to log in, the passive SP is just fine with me.
I stopped playing about a week ago, I won't be back until 1.8 IF it's even worth it. I don't care about new suits, it's just another way to play the same modes we've been stuck with. And if it's just new dropsuits then I'll wait until fanfest/hypefest, and if there is nothing there then I know that I have nothing to worry about. Destiny looks like a pretty good MMO-FPS.

Until this game can get it's Frame rates, Latency, Rubber Banding, Server/Cleint Updating.. Aim Mechanics... Terrain and Collision Mechanics... in check... It's a game that can't even run stable... Facilitate competitive play in DUST is even near impossible now with the lag and frame rates... This game as it is right now can't even Perform to basic Videogame standards for the Average user. Without even a hint or a whisper that CCP is trying to optimize it... Or proof that they have improved it at all.... In a year.. If DUST 514 can't even operate at ps3 console standards.... It's just a lot of fluff that is marketed well packaged into a broken game. However sad that revelation is... It's the current state of DUST. A Laggy Glitchy, Crashing, 10 FPS, Unbalanced Lobby shooter. on the ps3. Sadface.
So many problems for CCP to take care of but.... there are so many ideas for that link between EVE and Dust plus the MMO possibilities with this game. They've had so much to work on and it seems just now they are deciding to get serious about this game (go to CCP's main website then the job area, then look in the Shanghai openings) and Destiny isn't that far away. Did I mention that Destiny isn't just gonna be on the next gen consoles but also the current gen consoles.

Untill patch notes are released and then the severs come back up after the content is released is the only time I get my hopes up. CCP talks in future visions and they work towards those goals and because some of them are so far in the future they can't create an accurate timeline for release. Unforeseen problems and setbacks hurt deadlines, coding isn't easy and it has to work on one server shard across multiple platforms.
After a full racail lineup of suits and weapons CCP's goal should be to release player trading as soon as possible. The market can wait a while but player trading needs to happen. We can already trade ISK now we need to be able to trade items. We haven't been released a year yet and we have made some progress. Trading should be the next item on their list because it is badly needed and wanted.
I would say the same thing when looking at the progress that has been made ( "and we have made some progress") , but in this case some is 5%. I've been here for nearly two years and I don't get how people can still have so much fun in these modes. Sure with a squad there can be awesome moments but really you can only play the same few modes over and over again until your mind comes out of this weird mode that's kept you playing over and over again. Where you believed that this is an MMO-FPS, that this game is going to be amazing no matter what other games come out. That unlike other Shooters this game is actually in a universe where your choices matter.
And when your mind has come out of this stage you realize that this isn't an MMO-FPS, there are other games like Destiny which is an MMO-FPS that are going to hurt the population of this game if the game stays as a lobby shooter, the battles are meaningless and no matter what choices you make in these battles your not achieving anything but making your wallet bigger to spend it on suits for the constant same battles.
In the end you realize that nothing you do is achieving anything until CCP lets us out of our quarters, Destroy EVE ships, Trade between players in EVE and Dust, Pay EVE players for services and the other way around, and lets us affect New Eden which is the main reason nearly all of us are here.

With PS4 here and gathering steam, PS2 and Destiny coming, if Dust wants to stay even REMOTELY competitive, it's going to need a HUGE boost, not just one thing, but across the board. Map selection, scrimmage options, more open on the starmap, more eve interaction, true balance, the list goes on and on. Right now they're relying on people's patience and the fact that it's free. That will only last so long before people cut their losses and move on regardless of how much they've invested in it.
Agreed, a lot is needed between now and September our patience will only last so long and when we see another game that's an MMO-FPS then there's no reason to wait for Dust.

Would you be willing to wait until fan fest of 2015 not knowing for sure what would be revealed there? But you know that PVE is close as it ever has been or the player market at least? YES. Because this can be the greatest game ever. i will still be playing when dust 5.0 comes out. the only way i will quit is IF the rest of the community leaves me and there is an equal or equivalent game out there. what i mean by equal or equivalent is . it has be more competitive as this, more than 16 vs 16, more complex skill tree, and must be more team based. This is a game where i must rely on the person behind me to either, 1. kill the person that killed me. 2. replenish my ammo and or health. 3. help me kill someone. This is truly a one of a kind game. and the world needs these types of games. Do i wish everything was already here? yes. but at the same time i have already invested alot of time. not really worried about the actual money i already spent on it.
The community is part of the reason that I came back to this game after 1.7 was released, and once again I've taken a break until this game becomes worth it if it ever does. Being able to set up channels and organizations in the game itself is great and they are the reasons why the community finds reasons to communicate in game. And people spending more time in game to chat about previous matches, having an argument, trying out new ways to fight in overplayed modes. All that seems great but didn't really keep me interested in this... lobby shooter anymore. Been gone a week and I don't regret it, still keeping an eye out for the 1.8 patch notes which we should be getting soon though and asking certain questions here that I've had too much time to think about.

He's been married had two kids and now plays EVE with his 8 year old son every night... It's one of those games that will be there for you to continue and grow on for years... Not one of those games you spend a couple weeks maxing out your character to beat the game and move on. it seems to be the factor that attracts or repels people from the title. Seems to attract some pretty hardcore PC gamers though

I would be willing to wait, yes. But, unless the game is seriously improved in the next 2-3 months I will be relegating this to a hobby instead of my main game. I'll move on to PS-4 or perhaps get back into PC games and search for a place where I can fully immerse myself in the (smooth & polished) experience I am looking for. I'd likely log on and play a game or two every few days until 2015 but I wouldn't attempt to cap out, spend AUR, really get much more involved with the game. I'd continue to participate in the forums, though. I've met some awesome people in this game and on these forums... the scout community rules.
The question is would you be willing to wait another year/next years fan fest/ fan fest of 2015 not for two or three months from now.

Kinda is shocking to me how many people are willing to keep playing this lobby shooter, not saying that you can't have any fun but after nearly two years of this lobby shooter the fun has died down plenty for me. Not saying that it's a problem to be having fun in these constant battles. It's just that I expected by now we would have a much better connection to EVE by having plenty of things to do that matter in New Eden. Sure FW matters but we don't feel any of the affects and the battles aren't really that different from pub skirmish battles. The LP store is the right way to go but still not much of a change. PC (planetary conquest) has just been a laggy and expensive skirmish mode which really isn't that different from pub skirmish besides the fact that you have a team that knows what it's doing.

It doesn't matter what platform you give me to do it- I'm never going to get tired of shooting other people in the face over the internet. What seals the deal for Dust to me is how often I run in to much more serious opponents- running solo, I'm constantly faced with uphill battles against a better organized, better equipped enemy, and that makes every kill more satisfying. To me, the EVE link is just the gravy on top- right now it's a little watery, but I'm confident it'll thicken into delicious sauce after it simmers for a while.
lol good way of putting it but that EVE link and the possibility that it'll get better is the only reason this game is still around

You won't see anything along the lines of boarding titans at Fanfest 2014. I don't think you will see anything connected with the player market or industry either. That part of the game is borked and will take a lot of careful thinking to work out. I expect there will be something new released at Fanfest 2014 though. I'd imagine some kind of PvE might be released or if they want to make a big show they will release the War Barge to further connect EVE Online to DUST 514.
Well PVE might keep people occupied for some time, I know I will not want to play any of the pvp modes for a very long time again. Played those modes way too many times, and that's another reason why I'm not playing anymore until till 1.8 or until they release anything awesome they show at fan fest IF they have anything awesome. Not sure what exactly what advantages the war barge would give us but I assume it would be for the laggy expensive skirmish mode we call Planetary Conquest (PC) and maybe FW. And with the player market I'm sure they've put plenty of thought into and have been working on it for a very long time. So no player market? fine how about more things to do then stand around in our quarters and hop into quick matches.

It doesn't even have to be boarding titans... It could be a Capture the flag game mode fought on the Inside of a titan for a map... get some of the maps worked out and the basic infrastructure in place to add to the boarding game mode... later.. Map designs of the inside of a Titan would be enough at fanfest to get almost every EVE player passionate about titans to find a way to log on DUST and experience that. if the player market or at the very least Player trading...isn't attempted by Summer this year, if the PS4 or future hardware platforms aren't even brought up in future plans for DUST 514.. By the time September Destiny launch comes... This game will have such a massive death rattle in population it will be hard pressed to think it would continue..
This is exactly how I feel dude, we need something to save this game and sure boarding titans isn't just one of the things needed to save the game. There are plenty of options such as .

I also like a quick match so I wouldn't disappear or long stretches, but if we don't get my game modes beyond TDM and vehicles still compete directly with infantry for infantry kills I may stop capping out each week.
I play for the long haul. If I think it will be a year before I want to play much and I can get to where I want to be with pure passive SP I could let it sit.
That said, I'm a Star Citizen backer and will be building a PC for it later this year. I've got confidence Chris Roberts will build a space sim I will want to fly. Toss the Oculus Rift on top of that and who knows how much time I'll have for anything else.
Same, there is no point in bio-massing your character. Star Citizen seems like it's gonna keep plenty of people occupied, and once Destiny is out in September it'll keep plenty of people here that want to play an MMO-FPS. And if Dust ever gets good I'm sure I'll have plenty of passive SP
